NLA manage agreements with text aggregators to generate new revenues for publishers
NLA media access, the collective licensing and publisher services business, have launched a new initiative – Agent for Publishers – enabling newspaper, magazine and digital-only publishers to generate new revenues through commercial partnerships with text aggregators.
Over twenty publishers now mandate NLA to manage agreements with text aggregators directly to seek more transparency on content usage and reduce the burden on managing agreements with multiple partners. NLA offer a central clearing house for publishers including the reporting and collection of royalties, and the potential of fulfilling content delivery.
NLA have a proven track record in supporting journalism and returned over £40m in royalties to publishers in 2019 through core licensing services, archiving solutions and copyright infringement services. Agent for Publishers is a perfect example of a service that is better handled by a single entity acting on behalf of the entire industry.
