The UK's central database of press clippings, delivered online via media monitoring agencies.
eClips is an online database of UK newspaper articles designed for media monitoring agencies and their clients. There are currently 17 agencies in the UK using the service to deliver original quality press articles electronically in PDF format to their clients. Over 90% of the UK's media monitoring clients now access their articles via eClips.
eClips content is taken directly from newspapers production systems and made available to media monitoring agencies as XML for local indexing, search and evaluation work.
Clients access articles as PDF files hosted by NLA media access. eClips delivers many benefits to media monitoring agencies including; higher quality, more relevant and more timely articles.
It also removes the need for scanning which takes time, costs money and leads to degradation in images. The service meets client demand for sharper images, comprehensive national (including News UK content), regional coverage and archive rights.
Media monitoring agencies can choose between three service delivery options depending on their specific and client requirements.
These are an Image Data Service (IDS), an XML service and a Pay As You Go service. The XML subscription and PAYG services provide agencies with direct access to our hosted content for searching, selection and delivery to clients.
Content is available by midnight each day and can be delivered to clients after 4am, on the day of publication. Content is available for a period of 28 days. The service charging includes a fee for access to the database based on number of clients and an additional per copy fee, based on the number of copies supplied.
Agencies receive automatic access to UK national newspapers and can select from a comprehensive range of regional titles.
The IDS service provides larger agencies with a daily image data feed of cuttings which are stored on a secure press cuttings agency database. The service includes a search interface, keyword highlighting, comingling of content and delivery of daily content by 10pm on the day before publication.
The eClips database now includes newspaper website content, providing the most comprehensive coverage of on and offline newspaper content in the UK.
